Nameless

Here is a camera-phone picture of my sexy little sweetheart parked at the BWI airport her second day of life (she wasn't really 'alive' until I bought her).

stang2

I would take a picture of me driving her with the top down, but wait! I lost my camera last Friday during an extended session of intoxicated flirtation (aka, just another typical Cookie night on the town). Bah - what's another $400 for a new camera anyway? Not to mention, my cell phone is on its last limbs. I digress...

So my hot new mode of transportation needs a name. She's too cute to remain nameless. My grandfather is calling her the 'Red Streak,' but I feel like I can do better.

This requires thought. Viewing the picture, though, I think it's a given that is a girl car.

    You should name it Canyonero!!

Can you name the truck with four wheel drive,
Smells like a steak, and seats thirty five?
    Canyonero! Canyonero!
Well, it goes real slow with the hammer down
It's the country-fried truck endorsed by a clown
    Canyonero! Canyonero!
    Hey, hey!
Twelve yards long, two lanes wide,
Sixty five tons of American pride!
    Canyonero! Canyonero!
Top of the line in utility sports,
Unexplained fires are a matter for the courts!
    Canyonero! Canyonero!
She blinds everybody with her super high beams
    She's a squirrel-squashin', deer-smackin' drivin' machine
    Canyonero! Canyonero! Canyonero!
    Whoa, Canyonero! Whoa!

Please tell me you didn't have the whole canyanero theme song memorized. :)

Cookie, that sucks about losing your camera! If you find a good new one, let me know - I've been rather half-heartedly looking around for one (only half-heartedly because I'm kinda broke).

For Cookie, or anyone else who's curious. Go to this webpage:

Hit CTRL+F, and search for "Canyonero" then click, listen and enjoy. Read along with what I posted before for the full experience.

What about a shout out to "Bring It On?"

Big Red? Does the Bring It On
    cheer need to be recounted???

    I'm sexy, I'm cute,
    I'm popular to boot.
    I'm bitchin', great hair,
The boys all love to stare,
    I'm wanted, I'm hot,
    I'm everything you're not,
    I'm pretty, I'm cool,
    I dominate the school,
    Who am I? Just guess,
    Guys wanna touch my chest,
    I'm rockin', I smile,
    And many think I'm vile,
    I'm flyin', I jump,
You can look but don't you hump,
    Whoo
    I'm major, I roar,
    I swear I'm not a whore,
    We cheer and we lead,
We act like we're on speed,
You hate us 'cause we're beautiful,
Well we don't like you either,
    We're cheerleaders,
    We are cheerleaders.
    Roll call...
    Call me Big Red.
    W-W-W-W-Whitney.
    C-C-C-C-Courtney.
    Dude, it's Darcy.
    I'm big bad Carver. Yeah!
    Just call me Kasey!
    I'm... still Big Red,
    I sizzle, I scorch,
But now I pass the torch,
    The ballots are in,
And one girl had to win,
    She's perky, she's fun,
    And now she's number one,
    K-K-Kick it Torrance,
    T-T-T-Torrance!
    I'm strong and I'm loud,
    I'm gonna make you proud,
    I'm T-T-T-Torrance,
    Your captain Torrance.

Girl Car meaning...the car is female (not necessarily the driver).

It's red, and it's probably evil. OK, it's a Ford, so it's definately evil.

I recommend either Christine or Satan.

i'm glad you didn't have your camera. taking a picture of yourself while driving doesn't sound like the safest of ideas. ;)

i think the name just has to come to you...i don't think it will mean as much if it is suggested by someone else.

MPL - that's funny. I was just saying the same thing to Kathryn. I don't want to name her 'after' anything, and I need to feel inspired. The post is giving me a few good ideas though...

Wiz - she is definItely NOT Satan...

Rhinestone, to answer your question, that was a cut and paste job, but some lines, like the steak one, or the fire-courts one, are unforgettable.

Dale...come on, at least Canyonero was car related ;)

    Poutine?

Seenster - you rock! My requirements: Easy to use, small (fits in back pocket of jeans or cute little girlie purse) and takes good pictures. Doesn't have to be photographer quality, but nice amateur quality.

I was looking at the Olympus Stylus 500 (since the camera I lost was an Olympus), although I didn't find that it took very good pictures at night/low-light.

I was also looking at the Canon SD550.

    Thoughts?

I'm a fan of the Canyonero reference (good one, Captain), but it's not big enough. "Speeding Ticket" isn't bad, especially coming from a former cop...he KNOWS, right, DCLastCall?

Canon is a very good product :)

not a drain on batteries and easy to use.

I've taken to throwing two very expensive by horrible HP digicams against the wall... ;)
